What are the requirements to take a course?
The Schola’s minimum requirements are:
- Be a practicing Pagan
- Be able to attend classes in the Ottawa area
- Bring an open mind
Most classes require a basic understanding of Pagan terminology and prior experience of Pagan ritual. Some courses have additional requirements — see the course listing for details.
Where & When
Where Are the Classes Held?
Classes are held at various locations throughout the city of Ottawa, depending upon availability. There are four locations which include two private homes and two rented locations.
When Are They Held?
Generally from 7-9 on a weekday evening. Classes are grouped into three terms through the year:
- Sept through mid-Dec (Fall)
- January through March (Winter)
- April through early June (Spring)
How Much Do They Cost?
$45 per course of 10+ lessons, $35 for 6-10 lesson courses and $25 for courses of 5 lessons or less. Payment is due at the first class. You may also pay by direct bank transfer made out to registrar@paganschola.org, no password needed since this will autodeposit to our account (not yet available). If you prepay, you may deduct $5 from the registration price.
How Do I Apply to Take One?
If you happen to know the instructor, you can always apply directly to him or her, but the usual way is via the course application form on the Our Courses page.
- Fill in your given name and an email address at which we can contact you. (A phone number is requested so we can reach you if there are any sudden changes. Most updates come by email, however.)
- Now pick the course you wish to take from the pulldown. Because your application is forwarded to the Instructor in charge of that course, the pulldown only permits one selection at a time. You will save time and disappointment if you check to see if the course you are applying for is actually being offered. If it isn’t, you will be placed on the wait list.
- Add anything else you think we’ll need to know, tick “Send me a copy” if you want a copy of your application mailed to you, and press “Submit”.
All applications will be responded to within a few days, either by the Webmaster or by the Instructor of the course in question. If you haven’t heard back in a week, be sure to let the Webmaster know.
