2015 Summer

As a few of you may have noticed, we were offline for a couple of days recently. A blogging site like this one is made up of hundreds of smaller files a dozen or so of which are critical to you being able to see anything at all when you cruise into the site. If any one of those critical dozen get broken or go missing, a vistor to the site will get a blank screen possibly with a helpful message like “Error displaying the error page: Application Instantiation Error: The MySQL adapter mysqli is not available”, but sometimes not. This time I was told which file had failed us and it was fairly easy to get tech support to put it back. When we don’t get a helpful message, we have to check through all dozen or so files to see what’s up. If you enjoy logic puzzles, you may well enjoy programming/debugging; if not, it’ll drive you barmy.

It is also the case that Pagans tend to be ‘creative’ types, which means we’re not terribly reliable at filing paperwork. Which drives the Archivist, Registrar and Webmaster a tad barmy. A case in point are our course descriptions. I’m working through those to bring them all up to date, but if you find one with a “Current Class” prior to this year, take that as the “Previous Class” until I get around to fixing it. Some course decriptions are also in need of updating. OPS-100 was recently expanded from 11 to 18 classes with the cost of our rental space ballooning proportionally. The fee for that course has consequently expanded from $25 to $30 – still less than the increased price to us, but a fee hike nonetheless (Marie hopes to make up the difference with increased enrollment).

We have two courses on offer for the Fall session:

  1. Ritual Basics (OPS-100) to be held Thursday evenings, starting on the 17th of September, and
  2. Introduction to Divination (OPS-105) with Michelle & David, starting mid-September.

For more information on either course, follow the hyperlinks to see that course’s online description.

I n September Faculty updated our fee schedule, the first significant change since 2012. The new rates fall into two categories: 9 classes or less (i.e. a “short” course) will be $35 while 10 or more classes (a “long” course) will be priced at $45. To offset the sting, we now offer a flat $5…

This is a free piece of software with certain “eccentricities” such as being able to sort Current Courses by any of the tab…

F aculty restored the smaller class designation over the summer, so we now have three price categories sorted by course length: 6 classes or less (i.e. a “short” course) at $25 per course (not per class), 7-9 classes (i.e. a “regular” course) at $35 per course, and 10 or more classes (a “long” course) at…
